Romance Writer's Word of the Day 7/11/07

Today's Romance Writer's Word of the Day is:

Kismet.

Kismet [kiz-meht] is a noun meaning "something that is "meant to be"; fate; destiny."

Here's a simple sentence:

Every time she turned around, he was there, eyes sparkling with the promise that this was surely kismet.

Have a great day!

Words are an enormous part of romance. The said, the unsaid, the should have said ... words. I can't think of the last time 'kismet' came up in conversation though.

Oddly enough, "kismet" came up in conversation yesterday. The hubby, my son and myself were in an art gallery of sorts. The manager (a published pal of mine) inquired about how my hubby and I had met. We related the tale (full of odd coincidences) and she said, "Kismet."

So I guess the word of the day is because of her--and Fate. :p

But yes, words are a very important part of romance--few romances seem to prosper without them. Lust--no words required. A look, an act. But LOVE, romance requires the meeting of minds and (unless you're writing telepathic lovers ;-) requires words.

Gotta' love language! I'll have to breeze by your site--I enjoy thoughtful commentary.
